But with over 300 properties on the National Register of Historical Places, visitors are drawn into the past while visiting any one of the many museums open for tour.

Where the history of J. Sterling Morton and majestic Arbor Lodge intertwines with the Arbor Day Farm and state-of-the-art Lied Conference Center,

Where Arbor Day was founded and is annually celebrated each April,

Where apple orchards abound, beautiful trees grow abundantly, and walking trails follow wooded creeks to the delight of thousands of visitors,

Where an Urban Forest and Arboretums are being established,

Where annual parades celebrate Arbor Days and AppleJack festivities,

Where Lewis and Clark\'s legendary expedition passed and John Brown made history by hiding runaway slaves in a cave,

Where the past is actively preserved to promote a progressive future.

Come visit us and see why we\'re Nebraska\'s \"first city\" of history!
