The Battle of Newton
- The Battle of Newton is a re-enactment of the 1865 skirmish in which soldiers from the 1st Florida United States Calvary stormed the area to reportedly burn down the Dale County Courthouse, then located in Newton. A group of Newton men fought to defend the town in what became known as "The Battle of Newton." The reenactment is a free, family-friendly event. It will begin at John Hutto Park at 9 a.m., Saturday, and run through noon the next day. Always the 3rd weekend of October.
The simulated battle will begin on Saturday and Sunday at about 1:30 p.m.
