Event Details

Tack 'n Togs Extreme Cowboy Race & Equine Expo set for Sept. 2-4, 2011, at Gordyville USA in central Illinois.

The Extreme Cowboy Race is a multi-faceted equestrian sport that requires contestants and their horses to demonstrate both speed and horsemanship. As seen on RFD-TV, contestants run a course of 13 obstacles (such as pistol/rifle shooting, jumping, double bareback, deadfall, water carry, flames and smoke, log pull, roping, teeter-totter bridge, etc.) and are judged on their approach to, negotiation of and departure from obstacles, being scored separately on time and horsemanship. The Race is open to riders of all levels.

The Race was originated by the first Original Extreme Cowboy, Craig Cameron, who has achieved national recognition and prominence as a true cowboy and is known as one of the finest horsemen in the United States.

In addition to Cameron, who himself will be hosting several clinics each day throughout the weekend-long event, World Champion Richards Winters of Ojai, California, will be on hand to demonstrate his horse handling and breaking techniques. Also in the round pen will be Steve Lantvit of Extreme Cowboy Race fame and Tim Austin of St. Louis, Missouri.

The Tack 'n Togs Extreme Cowboy Race & Equine Expo brings the Race for the first time to Gordyville USA, a premium equine event facility located in central Illinois just outside of Rantoul, and will offer both vendors and attendees access to indoor and outdoor exhibit areas.

Rounding out the weekend will be educational sessions and a Horses-for-Sale event/daily parade. On Saturday evening a local band, The Feudin' Hillbillies, will provide entertainment from 9 p.m. until midnight.
