Woodlawn Museum

category : Museums
Woodlawn, part of the Ellsworth landscape for 175 years, was once home to three generations of the Black family and is now an historic house museum and public park. The estate sits on the crest of a hill overlooking the city and is surrounded by majestic pine, spruce, and hemlock trees. Visitors may tour the Black House and see original furnishings and objects that form one of New England's most intact family collections (95% of which are original to the home including outstanding examples of decorative and fine art). Or guests my stroll through formal gardens, picnic on lush lawns, enjoy afternoon tea, explore trails where the Black's horses once cantered, browse the gift shop or investigate the carriage and sleigh collections. Family activities, special events, and lectures throughout the year. Bus Tours welcome. Public Park: Open sunrise to sunset year round; Free.
