Buckeye Lake has populations of largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, channel catfish, flathead catfish, white bass, and carp. Fish stocked annually in Buckeye Lake include fingerling saugeye and hybrid striped bass. Gizzard shad is the main forage species.

Unlimited horsepower boating is permitted on the 1,277-acre Deer Creek reservoir. Two launch ramps provide access to the lake at the Deer Creek State Park Marina (west ramp), and at the Harding Cabin Boat Ramp Area (east ramp)
