B.A. Steinhagen Lake Fishing

category : Fishing
B.A. Steinhagen Lake comprises approximately 10,000 surface acres. The lake is officially listed at 13,800 surface acres, but over the 50+ years the reservoir has developed several thousand “transitional” acres that aren’t quite lake, but not quite land. This makes for a diversified ecosystem with the actual lake impoundment, as well as offering excellent fishing access to the Angelina and Neches Rivers. These two rivers are part of a spectacular riverine hardwood bottomland. This allows anglers to have two very distinct settings available for fishing. Numerous launch sites around the lake provide easy access to most any location of the lake. Caution should be used when boating due to deviations in the depth of the lake (average depth is 3-7 ft. north of US 190, 5-12 ft. south of US 190).

Popular fish species include largemouth bass, catfish, and crappie; however, there is a variety of other species also available for those interested.

The Town Bluff Project also features a Kid\'s Fish Pond within Magnolia Ridge Park.
