5 Focus on Fiber Arts - Have you ever wondered how a sheep's wool was transformed into your favorite sweater or warm wooly mittens? Join us at Sauder Village as artisans gather to demonstrate and share their love of fiber arts. "Focus on Fiber Arts" shows how the wool is taken off a sheep's back and turned to cloth. Our spinners and weavers demonstrate all the steps involved in this process. This year we have invited fiber arts groups to come in and join our own spinners and weavers in demonstrations on spinning and different types of weaving, natural dying of fibers and other similar activities. Guests will be able to watch spinning, weaving, knitting, crocheting and tatting demonstrations throughout the day. There will also be fiber exhibits, looms and spinning wheels on display, hands-on activities and wool felting and dyeing demonstrations. Make plans to join us for a fun and in-depth look at the world of fiber arts.

2 - 3 Explore The Crafts - Everyday at Sauder Village, guests watch in amazement as the potter skillfully turns a lump of clay into a beautiful vase, the cooper creates a wooden bucket or the basketmaker weaves both beautiful and functional baskets. During the Explore the Crafts event guests to the Historic Village will be encouraged to take that experience one step further. Visitors will have the opportunity to try their hands at various crafts throughout the Village, meet with guest craftsmen as well as visit with the craftspeople who have their shops at the living-history village. Many of the activities will provide a brief glimpse of what is actually involved in creating a finished product. Try weaving a few rows on a loom, take a turn at helping to hand stitch a broom or try shaping clay on a potter's wheel. All those who come will leave these areas with a better understanding of what our ancestors went through to create a finished product.
