The Center is the home of the Hays Arts Council, Kansas' first such organization. The gallery features many new exhibits throughout the year, including the Five State Photography Exhibition which is held during December in conjunction with the Winter Gallery Walk. The last Friday of April marks the opening of the Smoky Hill Art Exhibition and the annual Spring Gallery Walk. The Smoky Hill Art Exhibition is the states longest running juried, fine art competition. It's open to all artists presently living in Kansas. Each year a new juror is selected to judge hundreds of submissions to determine the artwork featured in the final exhibition. The Fall Gallery Walk is held the last Friday in August. Locations that typically participate in the gallery walks vary from ten to as high as 20 or more. The annual gallery walks are free to attend, open to the public and provide a great way for residents and visitors of all ages and interests to participate and enjoy the arts. A gift shop features art from local and regional artists and other items available to purchase. Hays Arts Council Gallery - 112 E. 11th - Hays, KS 67601
