28 - 31 Crawford County Fair - Held annually the first full week of August at the Crawford County Fairgrounds. Four-H Clubs, extension homemaker clubs, and agricultural groups display their fruits, vegetables and other homegrown and homemade projects. The livestock auction allows 4-H members to display and sell their livestock. In addition to touring the displays, there is even more family fun at the carnival, rodeo and demolition derby.

25 Girard Homecoming and Fall Festival - Come celebrate Fall with a parade, car show, craft and food booths, entertainment, bean feed, and much more. Sponsored by the Girard Area Chamber of Commerce, the tradition continues all around the Crawford County Courthouse square.

Big Flag Veteran Memorial

Drop by an see one of the nation's largest American Flags (30' x 60' - 130' high). While you can see the flag from your vehicle, you really must stand under the Big Flag to appreciate its true size, 130 feet high above the Kansas prairie honoring all war veterans.

Huey Helicopter & Veteran's Memorial

On April 15, 1995, a formal ceremony dedicated a Huey Helicopter to its new home on the Southeast corner of the Crawford County Courthouse lawn. In addition to the Huey, a granite replica of the Vietnam Wall is engraved with the names of the 777

Henry Laurens Call Home

This is the home of Socialist lawyer, author, and lecturer, Henry Laurens Call. Call built the first airplane west of the Mississippi River in 1908. It was called the "Girard Airship", dubbed by the townspeople as the "Mayfly" because, "it may fly!" It didn't. Call built fourteen planes in all.

Carnegie Library

The Carnegie Library was built in 1906 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Girard was the smallest city in the world to have a Carnegie Library, thanks to Miss Jane Addams, Founder of Chicago's Hull house and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1931.
