Herington has a vital and invigorating atmosphere in which to work and play. There are still many old fishing holes to be found where your everyday troubles are not permitted to enter. For the more serious sportsman there is Herington Reservoir and within a thirty minute drive there are three more reservoirs and several lakes, providing a relaxed lifestyle without the necessity of having to "Get away form it all."

We are a town of approximately 2,500 neighbors located in the corner of a three county area, at the crossroads of two major highways, U.S. 56 and U.S.77, giving easy access for all shipping and touring.

Fairgrounds Park

Fairgrounds Park, at the community's south end, has a miniature train for children to ride on summer evenings, along with baseball diamonds, playground, picnicking, and tennis courts. Nearby is the Railroad Museum, located in a historic baggage car.

Father Padilla Park

Father Padilla Memorial Park features a monument to Juan Padilla, who was killed in 1542. The shaded park has picnic facilities, playground facilities, gazebo, tennis court, basketball, nine-hole disc golf course, and baseball diamonds. Admission to the park's WPA-built swimming pool is free.
