Lakeside...The Chautauqua on Lake Erie - Lakeside is a faith-based, family vacation destination that has nurtured mind, body and spirit for generations.

An auto fee of $6.00 per day is charged. Partial day and extended stay passes are available. Some special events and classes may have extra charges.

15 Lakeside Classic Car Show - The annual Lakeside Classic Car Show will feature car enthusiasts from all parts of Ohio.  Explore all makes and models from vintage and classic to current "must haves".  Car enthusiasts will have the opportunity to enter their classic/antique vehicles (25 years or older) on the day of the show. 

Advanced registration is not necessary, as there will be on-site, free registration from 3:30-5 p.m. the day of the event. Each exhibitor and a guest/passenger will receive free gate pass admission to the grounds for the Classic Car Show and the 8:15 p.m. Hoover Auditorium concert.

4 Fourth of July Parade and Fireworks - The annual community Fourth of July parade begins with the children's bike parade from Perry Park at 10:00 a.m. followed by the float parade at 10:15 a.m.  Throughout the day there will be fun, entertainment, and food in Lakeside.  The evening concludes with what is always one of the best fireworks displays in the Lake Erie islands region.

19 - 20 Annual Arts & Crafts Show - Over 60 exhibitors will display their artwork featuring photography, wood carving, handmade jewelry, painted glass and home d'cor.  This annual favorite will be held on the lawn of the historic Hotel Lakeside off the shores of Lake Erie.

21 Annual Raccoon Run 5k - The annual Raccoon Run will begin with a One Mile Fun Run at 8 a.m. and a 5k race at 8:15 a.m.  Both events start on the corner of Walnut Avenue and Second Street, at Orchestra Hall and wind through Lakeside's historic community.  Check out the Lakeside website for registration materials

18 North America's Premiere Celtic Event-Tartan Terrors - Taking the Celtic scene by storm, the Tartan Terrors, North America's premiere Celtic Event, features the best in music, comedy and dance. Bolstered by the blistering piping of a Two Time World Champion Bagpiper, the driving tones of drums from around the world, and a guitar played unlike any you've ever heard, standing room only audiences understand why Dig This Magazine declares "(The Terrors) one act to keep an eye on!"

10 Annual Barbershop Quartet Festival - Lakeside will celebrate the annual Lakeside Barbershop Quartet Festival at 8:15 p.m. in Hoover Auditorium. Barbershop emerged in the U.S. in the early 1900s from African-American music traditions, and went through a revival in the 1940s. The Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) describes barbershop as “four-part, unaccompanied, close-harmony singing with consonant chords, understandable lyrics and easily singable melodies.”

This year, the Lakeside Barbershop Quartet Festival will feature three award-winning groups: The Hall of Fame Chorus, Over Easy and The Franchise.

24 Lakeside Antique Show - Celebrating its annual event, the Lakeside Antique Show will feature over 85 dealers displaying treasures to be hunted.  The show takes place at Wesley Lodge, South Auditorium, and Wo-Ho-Mis, with dealers scattered across the lawn. 

Items to be offered for sale will include: china, glassware, furniture, quilts, fine and costume jewelry, ladies’ accessories, kitchen supplies, sports memorabilia, books, postcards, area souvenirs, linens, vintage clothing, dolls, sterling and more. Buying is not permitted before 9:30 a.m.

18 Chautauqua Season Closing Ceremony - Lakeside will close the annual Chautauqua summer season at 7:45 p.m. Sunday. The Closing Ceremony and Fireworks will celebrate the end of another successful season in this beloved community. Chip Richter will perform Lakeside favorites. The evening will conclude with traditional hymns and a fireworks display. Although the Chautauqua summer season is coming to an end, Lakeside remains a year-round destination. 5 - 8 Midwest Birding Symposium - The Midwest Birding Symposium (MBS) is returning to Ohio for the first time in a decade. The charming Victorian Chautauqua community of Lakeside will serve as the host site for this year's event. The MBS will feature presentations by North America's leading experts, an extensive vendor area with nature products and information, birding at the area's top birding spots, and the opportunity for both novice and experienced birders to network with fellow enthusiasts.

Past speakers at the MBS have included Tony Award-winning actress Jane Alexander, National Public Radio commentator Julie Zickefoose, nationally published humorist Al Batt and bird photography experts Marie Read and Arthur Morris. This premiere birding event is expected to attract a capacity crowd of 1,000+ birders from around the continent to the shores of Lake Erie.

The MBS is a non-profit birding event held every other year in the Midwest. Since the first symposium in the Chicago suburbs in 1989, the event has been held in Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin. The symposium was held in Lakeside, Ohio, in 1997 and 1999, drawing 1,000 people each time. The MBS donates a portion of the net proceeds to conservation organizations and causes.

During the past three decades, bird watching has grown in popularity, with about 50 million United States residents taking part in this hobby. Meanwhile, the bird-watching and bird-feeding industries have soared to more than $14 billion in annual sales.

5OH0304012e016 - Lakeside Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival - Lakeside's life and activity are growing far beyond the 11 weeks of the Chautauqua summer season. The Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival, a cherished fall tradition that supports the Lakeside Association and Marblehead Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, will be held in Lakeside from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday.

The peninsula-wide festival will include a variety of activities for the entire family to enjoy. Throughout the day, free shuttle service will transport visitors from Lakeside to the Marblehead Lighthouse to experience free tours of the lighthouse, while Marblehead Peninsula merchants and businesses will offer sales and specials to shoppers.

In Lakeside, more than 50 arts and crafts vendors will display quality collectibles in Wesley Lodge, South Auditorium and Wo-Ho-Mis. While on the grounds, discover Lakeside's rich history by taking a 90-minute guided walking tour through the fall foliage and past the Victorian cottages, visit the Farmers' Market or enter a homemade pie recipe into Lakeside's annual Pie Contest, Auction and Sale. .

Other family-friendly activities in Lakeside include live entertainment, hayrides, free miniature golf and shuffleboard, corn hole tournament and a feature movie at Orchestra Hall. Children may participate in several fall-themed activities, such as decorating paper plate masks or making fall magnets. Food will be provided throughout the day by the Lakeside Association, Lakeside United Methodist Men and the Marblehead Peninsula Chamber of Commerce in various locations.
