29 - 30 Heritage Plant Sale - Do you love historic homes and gardens? Then why not join us at Tryon Palace for a chance to spruce up your home with unique, rare and historic plants? Held during Garden Lovers Weekend and the Spring Historic Homes and Gardens Tour, Tryon Palace's Heritage Plant Sale invites you to shop for perennials, herbs, annuals, trees and shrubs. Each item for sale is grown locally or in our greenhouse, but supplies are limited so come by early for the best selection. 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. The Tryon Palace garden shop will also be open on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

20 Neuse River Day Dragon Boat Festival - Dragon Boat Racing is coming to New Bern !! Come to Union Point Park for a festival to celebrate the Neuse River. For the first time ever, New Bern will host the wildly growing sport of dragon boat racing. In addition, there will be river cruises, food vendors, childrens activities and educational & commercial exhibits. Join us for a fun day in the park & support the work of the Neuse RIVERKEEPER Foundation.

Tuen Ng Festival or the Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional and statutory holiday originating in China. The festival now occurs on the 5th day of the 5th month of the traditional Chinese calendar, the source of its alternate name, the Double Fifth Festival.[5] The Chinese calendar is lunisolar, so the date varies from year to year on the Gregorian calendar.

19 Stanly-Spaight Duel Reenactment - On September 5th, 1802, a prominent New Bern lawyer met his political rival, a former State Governor, in a lethal duel on the streets of New Bern. Step back in time to an era where a man's personal honor was his most cherished quality and any incursion on this prized value could result in fiery and violent retribution. Watch the drama unfold before your eyes in a gripping reenactment of this fateful day. Come early and enjoy the gardens before a special performance by Tryon Palace's Fife and Drum Corps starts off the event at 4:00 p.m. In the event of rain, performances will be moved into the North Carolina History Center's Cullman Performance Hall.

31 MCAS Cherry Point Duathlon/Relay Duathlon - This event is "Open To The Public." Come and join us in an exciting morning of fun and fitness in this multisport that sandwiches the exhilarating long bike ride (10- miles) between two short runs (3-miles each). The course is "hill-less" and on pavement. This is a good way to join the multisport movement and have the option to either complete the entire course as a single competitor or team up with another racer and split the running and cycling duties. Commemorative t-shirts will be guaranteed to participants who register by the deadline. Awards will be given to the 1st-3rd place overall male/female and in certain age categories. Each participant will receive a medal upon crossing the finish line. Light refreshments will be avialable following the event.
