Sam Rayburn Hunting Areas

Surrounding Sam Rayburn Lake is approximately 6,000 acres of public hunting administered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. No Corps permit is required, and seasons correspond to those published in the Texas Hunting Guide for the counties of Angelina/Jasper/Nacogdoches/Sabine/San Augustine.

Legal Game include dove, quail, squirrel, turkey, waterfowl, deer, feral hogs. (Hunting or taking of doe deer with firearms is prohibited).

Muzzleloaders and Crossbows are allowed only during general deer season, and the special muzzleloader season as published in the Texas Hunting Guide.

Special Restrictions: Antlerless deer may be taken during archery season only. Tree stands are restricted to portable, non-bark penetrating, stands only and must be removed after each day's hunt.
