Stillhouse Lake WMA's

Designated public lands at Stillhouse Hollow Lake is open for free public hunting. These areas are shown on the lake map as Wildlife Management Areas (WMA's). Hunters must observe all Federal and State hunting laws and regulations including, but not limited to having a valid hunting license, seasons, and bag limits. A free Waterfowl Hunting Permit is required to hunt waterfowl on both Belton & Stillhouse Hollow Lakes.

The WMA's at Stillhouse Hollow Lake are open to hunting from September 1 through the end of goose season, as stated in the State Hunting & Fishing Guide Book. Hunters and observers are encouraged, and required during some seasons, to wear blaze orange when in the hunting areas. For additional information about hunting on US Army Corps of Engineers managed property, consult the US Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District Hunting Guide.

You may: 1. Hunt in designated hunting areas and adjacent waters only.

2. Hunt dove, waterfowl, and quail at Stillhouse Hollow Lake.

3. Hunt using shotgun with shot no larger than #4 lead or #2 steel.

4. Hunt waterfowl with steel shot only.

5. Use temporary or natural blinds. All temporary blinds must removed at the end of each hunting trip.

6. Camp in designated park areas.

7. Operate vehicles on designated roads.

You may not:

1. Hunt outside of designated hunting areas.

2. Hunt within 600 feet of private property or designated recreation area.

3. Hunt deer or turkey.

4. Hunt, trap, or capture fur bearing and other non-game animals.

5. Use rifles, pistols, or shotguns with buckshot or slugs.

6. Engage in target practice of any type.

7. Use traps, snares, bait, or tranquilizers to take any wildlife.

8. Hunt, pursue, or harass eagles, hawks, owls, bobcats, coyotes, mountain lions, or any wildlife species that is listed as endangered or threatened with extermination.

Dana Peak Trail - This trail is located on Dana Peak Road before the main entrance to the park. This trail is designed for hiking, biking or equestrian use with a corral and water trough for the horses. This is a free area that is open from daylight till dark year round.
