- Every year, on the Friday before Halloween, children and their families can visit Tonganoxie businesses on 4th Street for Halloween treats and some family fun.
There is a scarecrow-decorating contest, a prize raffle, a pumpkin-carving contest, and a live DJ to supply the music.

|16||Mayor's Christmas Tree Lighting - The Mayor’s Christmas Tree lighting is a free event in downtown Tonganoxie. Visitors can enjoy carolers dressed in traditional garments circa 1900, carriage rides, baked goodies and hot cocoa while watching the Mayor light the 10-foot tree at 4th Street between Bury and Green. This event typically occurs the Saturday before each Thanksgiving in downtown Tonganoxie.|
