Cedar Crest The French-Norman style house which was built by Frank P. MacLennan in 1928, is home to the governor of Kansas. It is the focal point of a 200-acre estate overlooking the Kansas river. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the estate features several ponds and hiking trails.

The foyer displays pictures of the First Ladies and First Man of Kansas and a hand-loomed state seal rug. Dining room chairs are done in needlepoint depicting Kansas wild flowers. Cedar Crest recently went through a $4million dollar renovation and you must see the "new" look.


Admission: No admission fee.
Hours: Open Monday afternoons for public tours from 1 p.m.-4 p.m.

Guided tours: Monday mornings or Tuesday morning/afternoon tours are by written request through the Topeka CVB. Tours can only be scheduled six weeks in advance. Bus parking - Not handicapped accessible.
