Fabyan Estate and Forest Preserve

The Fabyan Estate and Forest Preserve was created by Colonel and Mrs. George Fabyan who lived on the 600-acre estate from 1905 to the 1930s. The estate includes a restored villa with diverse collections, a Japenese garden and a windmill.


Hours: Tours Mon, Weds, (tea garden only), Thurs, Sat, and Sun, 1pm -4pm. Closed Tuesday and Friday.

Fabyan Dutch Windmill

The Fabyan Dutch Windmill was built by Louis Blackhaus, a German craftsman, between 1850-1860 on a site along York Road near Oak Brook. It was purchased by Colonel George Fabyan from Luis Reinke's widow for about $8,000 and moved to his estate known as Riverbank (now Fabyan Forest Preserve), in 1914
