Downtown Lawrence Farmers' Market
- Mid April to mid November - The oldest Farmers Market in Kansas, offering fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, flowers, herbs, and crafts and live music on Saturday mornings.Time: Tues & Thur 4-6:30pm; Sat 6:30-10:30am The Saturday Market is moving to a larger location with more stalls for new vendors and abundant parking for patrons. The Downtown Lawrence Farmers' Market's policy of requiring vendors to produce what they sell sets it apart from most of its area peers. Terri Gibbs of Lone Star Lake Bison Ranch added, "For us, the Lawrence Farmers' Market is all about community and the value of home-grown products. The Lawrence Farmers' Market has such a tremendous reputation for the integrity of its products, and that translates into both trust and reassurance in knowing where your food comes from." With the move of the Saturday Market to its larger location, the Downtown Lawrence Farmers' Market is able to introduce several new features including the Market Square. This area is dedicated to the "three Es-eating, entertaining and educating." - A wheeled art extravaganza. The eighth annual Art Car Parade continues the tradition of being larger and weirder than the year before. One-wheel, two-wheels, three-wheels or six; roller blade, skateboard, or bicycle; lawnmower, shopping cart or wheelchair; motor-driven, pedaled, pushed or dragged. The vehicles are given new identities by their owners ranging from clever to comical to just plain nuts. Annual Run for the Kids
- The Nash Dash is a fundraiser for the WRAP Program, which places mental health professionals from the Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center in schools in Baldwin City, Eudora and Lawrence. Donations will also provide scholarships for youth to attend Lawrence Parks and Recreation programs and activities. A 8K fun run and 5K walk will begin at 8a.m. with a one mile walk following at 8:30 a.m. All events begin and end at the Lawrence Visitors Center located at 402 N. 2nd. Ghost Tours of Kansas - Lawrence Haunts
- Lawrence Ghost Tour has been a top seller for many years now! History of Quantrails Raid adds to the historical element of this tour along with the full apparitions captured on camera in Pioneer Cemetery during get-out stops by guests. Eldridge Hotel haunted stories continue to pile-up. Be sure to check out the picture of the ghost in the elevator at the registation desk and of course I am sure you have all seen "My Ghost Story" presenting The Eldridge Hotel. Getting out at the Haskell Cemetery has an even eerier feel after hearing the stories. Teller's continues to be haunted by that of a ghostly man who was captured on laser grid during an investigation. Sigma Nu is an extra special highlight, and usually one we can go in if no special events are taking place and this location has been listed on Ghost Tours of Kansas most haunted top five locations, three years in a row.
