Milford Nature Center

category : Nature Centers
Milford Nature Center The Milford Nature Center is designed to give visitors a better understanding of and appreciation for the natural communities in Kansas. A trip to the Nature Center will reveal that Kansas has a rich abundance and variety of wildlife.

Adjacent to the Nature Center is the state's only warm-water, intensive-culture fish hatchery. Visitors are welcome to walk around the outside tanks, called raceways, at any time. Guided tours of the hatchery are offered from mid-April to October on weekends, or by appointment any time of the year.

Live animal exhibits feature native animals including snakes, lizards, frogs, prairie dogs, and birds of prey. Call in advance to schedule a naturalist-conducted program for you school class, scout organization, or other group featuring many of these native animals.

Nearly two miles of nature trails, a backyard habitat area, and our seasonal (open June thru Oct) butterfly house can be enjoyed on the center's grounds.

A spectacular underwater scene contains over 300 models of fish, turtles, crayfish, tiny mayfly larvae and more. Each is handpainted and recreated in amazing detail.
