Independence Day in Chetopa Kansas is an enormous celebration. Thanks to the Chamber of Commerce, the City of Chetopa, & the Chetopa Fire Department there are all day festivities in the park. Chetopa's Fourth of July Celebration is held every year on July 4th and brings in a great crowd. Festivities usually start around 10:00 AM and end with a street dance around mid-night.

The St. Ignatious Church originated in 1876 and the present church was built in 1912.
