Harrison, Nebraska

One of only 20 national grasslands managed by the USDA Forest Service, the Oglala National Grassland is a virtual ocean of prairie grasses, stretching from horizon to horizon over nearly 95,000 acres. The Grassland is one of the world's most complex ecosystems, and there are almost unlimited opportunities for hiking, photography, and other outdoor activities throughout the area. If you're patient, you can see golden eagles, prairie falcons, pronghorn (antelope), mule and white-tailed deer, sharp-tailed grouse, and swift fox throughout the year.
