Event Details

The Waterloo Jaycees Fireworks Festival is one of the few community-based fireworks displays in the Cedar Valley. With no admission fee, the Fireworks Festival has drawn up to 20,000 people to downtown Waterloo and encourages festival attendees of all ages, socioeconomic statuses, and backgrounds to come together in one location to celebrate our countries independence.

The Fireworks Festival is a community event that enhances life in the Cedar Valley and strives to bring the entire community together. This annual festival is held on the first Saturday in July each year and features entertainment, food vendors, beverages and a beer garden. A rain-date on Sunday is in place just in case bad weather persists.

The Waterloo Jaycees have been involved with coordinating the Fireworks Festival since at least 1995. At that time the festival was a collaboration with now Main Street Waterloo. In 2002 the Waterloo Jaycees became the sole organization in charge of planning and implementing the festival. Known as one of the largest fireworks displays in Eastern Iowa, the event is completely run and staffed by volunteers and is the second largest project run by the Waterloo Jaycees.
